hoopla
An app that borrows library ebooks, comics and movies on your phone.
What hoopla does
Hoopla is a free library app. Sign in with a card from a library that offers it and you can borrow ebooks, audiobooks, comics, movies, TV and music. Your library sets how many items you can borrow each month.
Hoopla works a little differently from Libby. Your library gives you a set number of borrows each month. One library we checked allows six items a month, and the count resets on the first of the next month.
The mix is wide. Next to ebooks and audiobooks you'll find comics and graphic novels, plus movies, TV and music. You read and listen in the app or a web browser, some titles download for offline use, and items return on their own when the loan ends, so there are no late fees.
Hoopla doesn't work on Kindle devices, and what you see depends on your library. It pairs well with Libby: when one app has a wait or you hit your limit, check the other.
