Libro.fm
An app that sells audiobooks that support your local bookstore.
What Libro.fm does
Libro.fm is an audiobook store and app that splits each sale with an independent bookstore you pick. You buy books with a monthly membership credit or one at a time, then listen in the app. The files are DRM-free, so they're yours to keep.
Libro.fm works a lot like the big audiobook store, with one twist: when you sign up you choose a local independent bookstore, and your purchases help support it. The catalog is large (the app lists 400,000+ titles) and covers bestsellers and new releases.
Membership is $14.99 a month for one credit, which gets you one audiobook. You can also buy books individually. Every book comes as a DRM-free file, which means you can keep it and play it in other apps, even if you cancel.
The app covers what you need: syncing across devices, bookmarks, a sleep timer, speed control, tags to organize your library, plus Apple Watch and CarPlay. It doesn't have a rotating free catalog, so it costs about the same per book as the big store's top plan. You're paying for ownership and for where the money goes.
