Pacer
An app that counts your steps and lets you walk with groups.
What Pacer does
Pacer is a free step counter for iPhone, Android and Apple Watch. It counts steps, floors, distance and active time with your phone in a pocket or bag, and adds walking groups, challenges and GPS route tracking. There are no cash rewards. Premium adds extra plans and features.
Pacer counts your steps with your phone's own sensors, so you don't need a tracker. You get steps, flights climbed, distance, calories and active time, plus trend charts and daily goals. It syncs with Apple Health and Apple Watch, and on Android with Fitbit, Garmin, Google Fit and Samsung Health.
Where it stands out is the social side. You can start or join walking groups, take part in challenges and clubs, and share progress with friends and family whatever phone they use. GPS mode maps your walks, hikes, runs and rides, and there are guided workouts if you want more structure.
The free version shows ads, and some extras sit behind Premium. There are no points or cash to earn. If you want to walk with other people and keep each other going, Pacer is a strong free pick.
