What Paprika does

Paprika is a recipe manager for iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac and Windows. You save recipes from websites, plan meals on a calendar, and turn them into a grocery list sorted by aisle. You pay once per platform instead of a subscription, and sync between devices is included.

Save recipes from websites with one tap
Meal planning calendar with reusable menus
Grocery list that merges ingredients and sorts by aisle
Pantry tracking with expiration dates
Cook mode with timers pulled from the steps
Works offline and syncs across devices

Paprika has been around for years, and it shows in a good way. You tap to save a recipe from a website, and it pulls out the ingredients and steps so you're not scrolling past someone's life story. Recipes go into your own categories, and you can scale servings or switch between measurement systems.

From there it becomes a kitchen planner. Drop recipes onto a daily, weekly or monthly calendar, save menus you repeat, and build a grocery list that merges ingredients and sorts them by aisle. A pantry list tracks what you have and when it expires. In cook mode the screen stays on, the current step is highlighted and times in the directions turn into timers.

The catch is the pricing model. Each platform is a separate purchase, so phone plus computer costs more than you might expect. It doesn't come with recipes of its own either, so it's best if you already have favorites to collect. If you dislike subscriptions and want your recipes stored on your own device, it's a classic pick.
