What Prizmo does

Prizmo is a scanner for iPhone, iPad and Mac that focuses on getting text out of paper. On-device text recognition reads 30 languages without a connection, and you can export searchable PDFs, Word files, plain text or images. It is free to try, and a one-time Premium Pack removes the limits.

On-device OCR in 30 languages that works offline
Optional cloud OCR in 139 languages with handwriting
Export searchable PDF, Word, TXT, PNG or JPEG
Word export keeps the original layout
Text to speech for scanned text
Runs on iPhone, iPad and Mac

Prizmo is made by Creaceed, a small independent studio that also makes the Prizmo Go text grabber. The focus here is getting the text right. Scan a page, and Prizmo recognizes the text on your device in 30 languages, or in 139 languages with handwriting support if you add the cloud plan.

You can export a searchable PDF, a Word file that keeps the original layout, plain text, or PNG and JPEG images. It can also read text aloud. The free version lets you try the core features, while the one-time $23.99 Premium Pack gives unlimited on-device OCR and exports and removes the watermark.

It's a strong fit if you want serious OCR without a monthly bill. It's Apple only, and with fewer ratings than the big names it's more of a specialist tool than an everyday receipt scanner.
