Spliit
An app that splits group expenses for free, no sign-up.
What Spliit does
Spliit is a free, open source app for splitting shared costs. You create a group, share the link, and everyone sees the same expenses and balances, with no account needed. It works in a web browser and has a native iPhone app. You can even run it on your own server.
Spliit keeps things refreshingly plain. You create a group, send the link to your friends, and everyone sees the same list of expenses and who owes what. Nobody has to sign up, and there's no subscription or trial to think about.
You can split equally, by shares, by percentage or by exact amounts, and it suggests settlements that keep the number of payments low. There's an activity log, search and support for multiple currencies. The iPhone app is a native rewrite that scans receipts on your device and supports Siri, Spotlight and Dark Mode.
Because Spliit is open source, you can point the iPhone app at a server you host yourself. The trade-off is polish. It's simpler than the big names, it has no Android app (people on Android use the website), and the iPhone app has only a handful of ratings so far.
