What Voice Aloud Reader does

Voice Aloud Reader is a text to speech app for Android from an independent developer. It reads files on your phone, like PDFs, ebooks, Word docs, HTML and TXT, plus web pages and any text you share to it from other apps. On Google Play it's now listed as @Voice: Text to Speech Reader.

Reads PDF, DOC, HTML, TXT and ebook files from your phone
Reads web pages from a pasted link
Reads text shared from other apps
Uses your phone's installed voices

If you're on Android and want a reader that opens the files you already have, Voice Aloud Reader is a common recommendation. You can open books and documents saved on your phone, including PDF, DOC, HTML and TXT, paste in a web address, or share text to it from your browser or another app, and it reads it back.

It uses the text to speech voices installed on your phone, so how natural it sounds depends on which voice engine you have. It's an Android-only app from a small developer, and it shows up in text to speech roundups.

If you want polished AI voices or an app that syncs with your computer, a bigger reader will feel smoother. If you want a straightforward way to hear your own files on Android, this is worth a look.
