Whisper Notes
An app that transcribes recordings offline and labels each speaker.
What Whisper Notes does
Whisper Notes is a speech to text app that works fully offline on iPhone, iPad and Mac. Record or import audio and video, and it turns it into text on your device, with labels for each speaker. It costs $7.99 once, with no subscription.
Whisper Notes keeps things simple and private. All the transcription happens on your device, the privacy label lists no data collected, and there are no ads or in-app purchases. Pay once and that's it.
It handles 101 languages and detects which one you're speaking, though it's tuned best for English. You can bring in audio or video from other apps, and it can split the transcript by speaker, also offline. When you're done, export as plain text or as SRT or VTT subtitles.
It doesn't caption live while you record. The text appears right after you stop, which is fine for voice memos, lectures and interviews (ask before you record other people). The developer recommends an iPhone 12 or newer for good speed, so older phones may feel slow.
