Apple Calendar
An app that keeps your schedule on every Apple device.
What Apple Calendar does
Apple Calendar is the calendar that comes preinstalled on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch. It's free, has no ads, and pulls in your iCloud, Google and Exchange calendars in one view. You can share an iCloud calendar with family, but it's built for Apple devices, not Android.
If you have an iPhone, you already have Apple Calendar. It's preinstalled, and if you deleted it you can get it back from the App Store for free. It shows events from iCloud, Google, Exchange and other accounts together, color coded by calendar, in list, day, week and month views.
For families and couples, the useful part is shared iCloud calendars. You make a calendar, like Family or Us, and invite people by name or email. You choose whether each person can only view it or also add and edit events. The people you invite need iCloud to join, which is easy if everyone has an iPhone and awkward if someone uses Android. A public calendar option lets anyone subscribe and view, but not edit.
Apple Calendar also handles invitations, travel time alerts, notes and attachments on events, and your Reminders tasks alongside your appointments. You can subscribe to holiday or sports calendars from the web.
What it doesn't have is family organizer extras like shared shopping lists inside the calendar, meal planning or chore charts. If your whole household is on Apple devices and you just need one shared calendar, it's hard to beat free and built in.
