What AR Ruler does

AR Ruler is a camera measuring app from a small Polish studio. It goes well past a simple tape: you get tools for height, distance, angles, rectangles, circles, volume and walls. It's on iPhone, iPad and Android, with over 10 million installs on Google Play.

Length, height, distance and angle tools
Area, perimeter and volume of shapes
Wall and room tools with PDF floor plans (Android listing)
Home screen widgets for each tool
LiDAR 3D scanning on supported iPhones

Where Apple's Measure stops at length, AR Ruler keeps going. You can measure a line or a height, the distance to a surface, an angle, the perimeter and area of a shape, and the volume of a box or cylinder. Each tool can sit on your home screen as a widget, so the one you use most is a tap away.

On Android it needs ARCore, Google's AR support, and the Play listing says a room planner can export floor plans as PDF. On newer iPhones it can also use the LiDAR scanner for 3D scanning. Like every camera measuring app, accuracy depends on light and on how steady you hold the phone, so treat results as estimates and use a real tape for anything you'll cut or order.

The free version shows ads and limits some tools and projects. Premium removes both and starts with a 3-day trial, but the pricing is steep and confusing: the US App Store lists weekly plans, monthly plans and several yearly prices. If you only need a measurement now and then, the free version is enough. If you measure every day, compare the yearly price before you commit.
