What Polycam does
Polycam is a 3D scanning app for iPhone, iPad and Android. Scan an object, a room or a whole building, and it builds a 3D model you can measure, share or export. With a LiDAR iPhone its Room Mode makes floor plans. It also works from regular photos and video, so you don't need special hardware to get started.
Polycam started as a 3D scanner and grew into a tool for documenting spaces. You can scan with LiDAR on supported iPhones and iPads, or take photos and video on any phone and let it rebuild the scene in 3D. It also makes 360 degree tours you can share by link.
For measuring rooms, the key feature is Room Mode, which turns a LiDAR scan into a floor plan. That part needs an iPhone or iPad with LiDAR. Scale-accurate blueprints and exports to CAD and 3D formats come with Polycam Pro, along with unlimited photo-based scans.
You can sign in on the web for free to view and share your captures. The Android app rates lower than the iPhone one, so iPhone with LiDAR is where Polycam shines.
