What Canva does
Canva is a design app for phone, tablet and web that's also handy for photos. You can crop, adjust and filter pictures, build collages and drop photos into templates for posts, cards and flyers. The free plan covers a lot; Canva Pro adds AI photo tools like background removal and Magic Eraser.
Canva isn't a classic photo editor, and that's the point. Where photo apps focus on making one picture look great, Canva is about what you do with it next: a collage, an Instagram post, a birthday card or a flyer.
You still get the basics: crop, flip, brightness, contrast, saturation, filters and a focus effect that blurs the background. Pro adds AI tools for photos, like background removal, Magic Eraser for objects, Magic Expand to widen a shot and Magic Edit to change part of an image from a prompt.
The free plan is generous with templates, and everything syncs between your phone and computer, which is great if you start on one and finish on the other. If you want deep color control or film looks, use a dedicated editor first, then bring the photo into Canva to design with it.
