What Chronicle does

Chronicle is a bill organizer for iPhone, iPad and Mac. You add your bills once, it reminds you before they're due, and it keeps a history of every payment you log. It has been around since 2012 and is still updated. An optional Pro subscription adds a forecast of what's coming and how much to set aside.

Reminders before each bill is due
Payment log with confirmation numbers
Forecast of bills up to a year ahead (Pro)
Monthly amount to save for non-monthly bills (Pro)
Estimates for bills that change each month (Pro)
Apps for iPhone, iPad and Mac

Chronicle does one job and does it calmly: it keeps your bills in one list and nudges you before each one is due. When you pay a bill (on your bank's or biller's site, not in the app), you log it, and Chronicle keeps that record with details like a confirmation number. Over time that turns into a tidy payment history you can look back on.

The free version covers reminders and the payment log. Chronicle Pro adds the planning side. A forecast view shows what's due up to a year ahead, and an amount-to-save figure tells you how much to put aside each month for bills that don't come monthly, like insurance. Pro can also estimate variable bills from your past payments and adds cloud backup and sharing with someone else.

There's no bank connection, so nothing gets pulled in on its own. That's a plus if you like keeping your accounts private, and a minus if you want hands-off tracking. It's Apple only, with a Mac version too. If you want a full budget, look elsewhere. If you want bills to stop sneaking up on you, this is a solid, long-running pick.
