What GasBuddy does
GasBuddy is a free app for finding gas prices near you in the US and Canada. Prices come from other drivers, and you can sort stations by price, distance or amenities. It also has an optional pay card and paid memberships with per-gallon discounts.
GasBuddy's core idea is simple: drivers report what they see at the pump, and everyone else gets a live map of prices nearby. You can search by fuel type and sort stations by price, location or amenities, and leave station reviews.
There's also a points program. You earn points by snapping receipts, playing games and finding deals, and can trade them for small discounts at the pump or digital gift cards. The optional Pay with GasBuddy card, issued by a bank, adds a per-gallon discount when you pay with it, according to GasBuddy, and paid memberships raise that discount and add extras like roadside help.
