OpenSnow
An app that forecasts snow and powder days for ski resorts.
What OpenSnow does
OpenSnow is a weather app for skiers and snowboarders. It gives you snow forecasts for ski resorts and backcountry spots, daily write-ups from local forecasters, snow reports, avalanche forecasts and mountain webcams. The basics are free, and Premium costs $49.99 a year.
General weather apps aren't built for mountains. OpenSnow focuses on them, with forecasts for resorts and backcountry areas and its own forecast models. The free version gives you a 15-day forecast for your current spot, a 15-day snow summary, snow reports, avalanche forecasts, mountain webcams, air quality and slope angle maps.
The signature feature is the Daily Snow: short write-ups from local forecasters who explain where they expect the next storm to hit hardest. Premium adds hourly forecasts, radar, snow and precipitation maps, offline maps, powder quality forecasts, snow alerts and historical snow data. In the US, it also adds severe weather tools like lightning, hail and tornado risk.
You can try Premium free without entering a card. If you ski a few times a season, the free version may be enough. If you chase powder, Premium adds the tools you'll use most.
