WorthPoint
An app that looks up past sale prices for antiques and collectibles.
What WorthPoint does
WorthPoint is a price research service for antiques and collectibles. It shows what similar items sold for over about two decades of auctions and online sales, and has a large database of maker's marks to help you work out who made something. The app is free to download, but the useful parts need a subscription.
Search for an item, like a piece of pottery, a watch or a toy, and WorthPoint shows past sales with photos and prices from auction houses and marketplaces. Seeing what close matches actually sold for is the most honest way to estimate what yours might bring.
The Marks database covers maker's marks, signatures, patterns and symbols, which helps when you're staring at a stamp on the bottom of a vase. There's also a dictionary of collecting terms and a Vault for cataloging what you own.
Two cautions. Past sales are a guide, not an appraisal, and your item's condition and details can move the price a lot. And the app itself gets poor reviews: people like the data but report login problems, lockouts and searches that reset. If you only need a few lookups, try the website first, and only subscribe if you'll use it often.

Questions people ask
Is WorthPoint free?
The app is free to download, but full price guide and marks data need a paid subscription.
Can WorthPoint identify an antique from a photo?
No. You search by keywords and compare your item to past sales and its marks database.
Will WorthPoint tell me what my antique is worth?
It shows what similar items sold for. That's a useful estimate, not an appraisal, and condition matters a lot.
