What Runna does

Runna is a running coach app. You set a goal, like your first 5K or a marathon time, and it builds a week-by-week plan around your fitness and schedule. Workouts sync to Apple Watch, Garmin and COROS. It's owned by Strava and costs $19.99 a month after a 7-day trial.

Personal plans for 5K, 10K, half, marathon and ultra
Beginner plans that build up from no running to a 5K
Workouts sync to Apple Watch, Garmin and COROS
Strength and conditioning sessions for runners
Plans adapt as your fitness changes
Syncs runs with Strava

Runna is for people who want to be told what to run. Pick a goal, from a Couch to 5K style beginner plan up to an ultramarathon, and tell it how many days a week you can train. It builds a plan with easy runs, intervals and long runs, and adjusts as you go.

Workouts land on your watch, so you can follow the pace targets on the run instead of doing math in your head. Plans also include strength and conditioning sessions for runners, and there are plans for coming back after a race or a break. Runna syncs with Strava, which owns it.

The catch is the price. After a 7-day trial it's one of the pricier running apps, and without a subscription you only get the first week of a plan. If you're training for a race and want structure, it can be worth the price. If you just want to jog a few times a week, a free app like Nike Run Club or a simple Couch to 5K timer is plenty.
