What Strong does

Strong is a workout log for the gym. You record each set, rep and weight in a few taps, and it remembers what you lifted last time. It has a rest timer, warm-up and plate calculators, and an Apple Watch app. Logging is free. Strong PRO removes the 3-routine limit and adds charts.

Quick logging of sets, reps and weight
Shows last session's numbers as you lift
Automatic rest timer and set tags
Plate and warm-up calculators
Exercise library with animated demos
Apple Watch app and CSV export

Strong does one job and does it fast: logging lifts. Start a workout, add exercises, and type in your sets as you go. Last session's numbers sit right there, so you know what to beat. A rest timer starts on its own after each set, and you can tag sets as warm-ups, drop sets or failure.

There's an exercise library with animated demos, and you can add your own exercises and routines. It's set up for classic barbell programs, with a plate calculator so you know what to load on the bar. Body measurements, notes and CSV export are in there too.

The free version lets you save unlimited workouts, but only 3 custom routines, and the progress charts need PRO. PRO is fairly priced, and there's a one-time lifetime option if you hate subscriptions. If you want a clean log and not a coach telling you what to lift, Strong is a long-time favorite.
